On Tuesday morning we were delighted to take some of our AAT students on a tour of Weetabix in Burton Latimer. A group of 10 lucky students were accompanied by AAT tutor Karen Mustard and myself, Ben Penney.
We were met by Lisa Gregory, Supply Chain Finance Manager, who gave us an introduction to all of the products Weetabix produce before explaining her role within the finance department. Lisa then discussed how Weetabix budget for the financial year and the main stumbling blocks they come across. This was fantastic insight for the accounts students. To see real life examples of how a big corporate finance team work was invaluable (no pun intended).
Everyone was then dressed up in their safety gear and we were taken for a fascinating tour of one of the factories! You can see half of the group rocking their safety kit below…
I was allowed a few photos on the way around the factory…
Massive thank you to Lisa and everyone at Weetabix for allowing us to take the tour! If Weetabix will have us we are hoping to take some more students on the tour later this year!
